Hey Friends!
I can’t believe it’s already been a week since we landed in Colombia! We’re being hosted by a refuge foundation that has provided us with apartment-style housing, and they’ve welcomed us like family. Even though we came here to serve, they’ve shown such a heart to serve us, encouraging us to rest, grow, and prepare for the upcoming countries. Their kindness truly reflects the servant heart of Christ.
This past week, our team helped with the foundation’s food ministry by sorting vegetables, separating the good from the bad, unloading the delivery truck, and prepping everything to be sold at the bakery downstairs.
We also participated in homeless ministry. One group went out into the city while the rest of us stayed back to intercede in prayer. I was on the intercession team this week, and I felt so empowered and in awe of God during that time.
Outside of ministry, we’ve been submersed into community! We had a beautiful women’s night where we worshipped and washed each other’s feet. We’ve also been using the kitchens to cook and bake together. Other highlights: dance battles, bracelet making, games, workouts, and just learning to live well in community.
This week, my team will be helping with recycling, tearing apart paper bags to separate plastic and paper. This work supports the foundation financially, as it’s a nonprofit. We’re also leading the English classes, where locals can come practice and improve their English skills.
