Or is it Christmas??
Hey friends!
We made it to Vietnam! I just wanted to post and say Merry Christmas!
I’ve never had a Christmas where it’s ninety degrees, humid and I’m being bitten by mosquitoes! Here in Vietnam, Christmas isn’t a big deal unless you’re a Christian. New Year’s is their major holiday, and Christmas is almost just another day. There are hardly any Christmas decorations on the streets unless you’re in a mall. Just by looking around, you wouldn’t know it’s Christmas.
However, that didn’t stop us from having the Christmas spirit. I was able to use my hospitality role to plan Christmas and make some traditions from home happen to the best of my ability! One of those being waking up to stockings outside the door, and my team got to wake up to stuffed stockings outside the room! The smiles and excitement was so amazing to see on such a hard day to be away from home. Then we attended a Christmas service and once we got “home” we opened gifts from each other! Then we ended the day with a big home made dinner and played games with our new friends!
